I am honored and privileged to present the annual report of the Institute for the year 2016. The report summarizes the great efforts of the institute carried out during 2016 in order to achieve its objective. In this year the Institute’s strategy of (2017-2021) was approved. The strategy includes several key focus areas, and a number of initiatives aiming at enhancing the quality of our programs and activities, prioritized according to strategic fit, that will be launched and converted into measurable actions. During 2016 the Institute was able to extend the breadth of its offerings by an increase in the number of programs to (879) in which (23899) male and female participants took part. This resulted in an increase of (2636) participants and the percentage of participation amounted to (11%) more as compared to what was achieved in 2015. The percentage of UAE nationals participation in the annual plan training increased to (27%), and participant number increased to (6342) as compared to (5796) in 2015 amounting to an increase of 9%.
Those programs and activities included the annual training plan programs, insurance programs, professional certificates, custom programs, nationalization programs and leadership development programs executed in collaboration with highly reputed Universities during 2016.
The total number of insurance programs reached (93), in which (1795) employees participated and (15%) of them were UAE nationals. In the professional certificates (144) bank employees participated, out of which (84) were UAE nationals representing (58%) of the total participation.
During 2016 the Institute organized (23) workshops, in which many experts presented and (1466) employees participated. Out of which (694) were UAE nationals, representing (47%) of the total participation. EIBFS also continued its efforts in nationalization programs via signed agreements with a number of banks including Union National Bank and Rak Bank, and more are expected. In the same spirit, the Institute also supported the new Emiratization strategy and started training the trainers who will be responsible for implementing the “Points System” in their organizations. (20) Workshops were organized for (674) bankers and insurance employees in collaboration with the Boston Consulting Group. EIBFS also strengthened its cooperation with its strategic partners for the Emiratization process, through the organization of the 18th National Employment Exhibition in the Banking, Finance and Government sectors. In addition EIBFS also focused on e- learning programs, professional development programs, and offered (87) programs within and outside the Institute resulting in providing a more competitive and conducive environment for learning.
Finally, I would like to thank all those who contributed towards these achievements specially, the UAE Central Bank, all the banks in UAE, all members and employees of EIBFS and the board of directors for their continuous support and cooperation.
